Your Los Angeles Process Server
The City of Los Angeles alone stretches nearly five hundred square miles, from the Harbor at San Pedro to the far edge of the San Fernando Valley — a single city that takes over an hour to cross in light traffic. That scale is exactly why choosing a process server here matters more than it does in a small city: the difference between a server who plans a route and one who does not is measured in days, not minutes.
We are owner-operated and based in Glendale, centrally positioned for Downtown, the Eastside, Hollywood, and the Valley side of the city. You are not handing your job to a national broker who subcontracts it to whoever answers first. Serving somewhere else in the region? See our Los Angeles County coverage.
We are a registered, bonded California process serving company and a member of the National Association of Professional Process Servers. Every completed job comes back with a court-ready proof of service — date, time, exact location, and a description of the person served — prepared to California Judicial Council standards and emailed as a PDF. As an official California eFiling provider, we can also file the documents once service is complete.
Documents We Serve in Los Angeles
If it has to be served, we serve it
Summons & Complaints
The document that starts your lawsuit. Personal, substituted, or service by publication support when the defendant cannot be found.
Corporate & Registered Agent Service
Suing a company? We serve California business entities through their designated agent — often the fastest and most reliable route to valid service.
Subpoenas
Deposition subpoenas, records subpoenas, and trial subpoenas served on witnesses, custodians of records, and third parties.
Evictions & Unlawful Detainer
3-day, 30-day, and 60-day notices plus unlawful detainer summons. LA's tenant protections leave no room for a sloppy proof of service.
Family Law & Divorce Papers
Divorce petitions, custody motions, and support orders — handled discreetly and professionally in situations that are rarely easy.
Restraining Orders
Domestic violence, civil harassment, and elder abuse restraining orders served promptly and carefully, with priority handling.
Writs, Levies & Garnishments
Judgment enforcement paperwork, bank levies, wage garnishments, and judgment debtor examinations.
Skip Tracing
In a county this size, a stale address is the single biggest cause of failed service. We run TLOxp data to confirm where someone actually is before we dispatch.
Court Filing & eFiling
As an official California eFiling provider, we can file your documents after service — one vendor, one invoice, one point of contact.
What Makes Los Angeles Different to Serve
Scale is the whole problem — and the whole skill
High-rises and doorman buildings
Downtown, Koreatown, Century City, and the Wilshire corridor are full of towers where a server never gets past the lobby. Knowing what building staff can and cannot lawfully refuse — and how to complete service at the outermost point of access — is the difference between a valid proof and a wasted fee.
Distance and traffic are real costs
An address in San Pedro and one in Chatsworth are two hours apart in the wrong window. Attempts have to be routed and timed deliberately, or you are paying for a server to sit on the 405.
Addresses that are not what they seem
Unincorporated pockets, duplicate street names across cities, unpermitted back units, and mail drops posing as suites all produce failed attempts. We verify the address before dispatch rather than after.
A court system with many front doors
LA Superior Court runs dozens of courthouses across multiple districts, each with its own filing quirks. Filing in the wrong location costs days — we handle service and filing together so the handoff does not drop.

A registered process server makes the attempt, varying days and times as needed. You get an update after each attempt — no silence.
You Get Your Proof
A signed, court-ready proof of service lands in your inbox as a PDF. Need it filed? Assisted eFiling is available once service is complete.
California Service of Process Rules, in Plain English
A quick orientation for anyone handling their first case. This is general information, not legal advice — talk to an attorney about your specific situation.
You cannot serve your own papers
Under California Code of Civil Procedure § 414.10, service must be performed by someone 18 or older who is not a party to the case. If you are the plaintiff, you are disqualified. A friend or relative technically qualifies, but a registered process server produces a proof of service that is far harder for the other side to attack.
Personal service is the gold standard
Handing the documents directly to the named person (CCP § 415.10) is the cleanest and fastest-effective method. Service is complete the moment the papers are delivered. It is what we attempt first on every job.
Substituted service is the fallback
When someone cannot be personally served after reasonable diligence — courts generally expect several genuine attempts at different times — CCP § 415.20 allows the papers to be left with a competent adult at their home or usual workplace, followed by a mailed copy. Service is then deemed complete on the 10th day after mailing, so build that delay into your calendar.
Registered process servers are regulated
California registered process servers must register with the county clerk and maintain a $2,000 bond under the Business and Professions Code. That registration is what allows a server to sign proofs of service in volume and gives your filing added credibility.
Deadlines are unforgiving
California expects a summons and complaint to be served within 60 days of filing, and unlawful detainer cases move on far tighter clocks. If your deadline is close, say so when you contact us and we will prioritize the job.

Los Angeles Process Server FAQ
The questions we get asked most
About Process Serving in Los Angeles, California
Los Angeles County covers more than four thousand square miles and eighty-eight incorporated cities, plus large unincorporated areas that many people assume are part of the City of Los Angeles. For process serving that geography is not a detail — it determines routing, attempt timing, and often which courthouse your matter belongs in. A server who does not account for it hands you an attempt log full of "no answer" entries.
The county is also where a disproportionate share of California's corporate defendants are served. Businesses registered in the state must designate an agent for service of process, and the largest of them typically use commercial registered agents — see our dedicated pages on serving CT Corporation and United States Corporation Agents (LegalZoom), both of which maintain Glendale offices.
Beyond process serving, Los Angeles clients use us for court filing and California eFiling, courthouse messenger runs, records retrieval, and TLOxp skip tracing when a defendant's whereabouts are unknown. Firms sending regular work receive volume pricing and consolidated billing — see our California eFiling service for attorneys and law firms. We maintain dedicated pages for Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena, Van Nuys, Santa Monica, and Beverly Hills, plus full Los Angeles County coverage.
We are registered and bonded in California, our proofs of service comply with California Code of Civil Procedure requirements, and we are members of the National Association of Professional Process Servers. Whether you are an attorney with a filing deadline tomorrow, a landlord starting an unlawful detainer, or an individual serving divorce papers for the first time, you will get the same answer when you call: a real person, a straight quote, and papers served properly.
